Facebook Teenager
Many teenagers are moving on from Facebook for a variety of reasons. Some say it is because they lost interest but it reminds me of ebay. Ebay started out with small time buyers and sellers. They flocked there as if they were going to a local garage sale. Over time, the mass influx of marketeers selling junk or not following through on sales and those who would click buy but never plan on sending any money – killed the experience. The rules changed to disfavor the sellers. The growth was more than I could handle and I left after a fraudulent buyer and seller and no recourse within ebay. Ebay continued to raise its fees. The small time seller and buyer left.
This article http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?R=1007808 does not really address the fact that many are flocking to facebook. For the teens the changes there may not be the excitement of something new. Or having their mother or grandmother on their page might be a downer.
I see a lot of network marketing (think ponzi scheme) which most have learned to avoid in the real world. There are some real solid citizens on face book with great blogs and helpful hints that they have gleaned from the many followers they have. These are the people to emulate.
Tell me what you think. Will the teens move on? Or will they find it useful in a different way now that it is attracting more people. Many people have said they have made connections with people from the past and it has been nice to get in touch again. For the teens and college kids, they ‘friended’ everyone and maybe instead they just need to weed out those they no longer share anything besides being an alumni.

I do think teens need to think about who they are friending on the page. They have over 1,000 friends (really?!). Do those 1,000 friends want to know their every move? They need to etiquette rules about Facebook usage. It’s a great tool for many areas, but we need to use it wisely!

Hello LakeMom,
Thank you for the post on my blog.
Teens have not learned to be cautious but that is where parenting comes into play.
As a business we have to be open, yet as a person we need to closed. Finding the right balance is important
