Today’s task is to find a blog buddy. Darren points out in the ebook that bloggers who work together often have more success in building their blogs.  You can find one blogger to work with, or a small group and commit to work together.

Some of the benefits of working with another blogger include gaining feedback before publishing, sharing link love and communities, and sharing guest posts with each other.

It is a good idea to find a blogger at a similar level and in your niche. Use the comment area here to meet others. We can set up discussion boards.

Questions:

  1. Have you ever collaborated or worked with another blogger to mutually grow or improve your blog?
  2. How have you reached out to other bloggers in your niche? What has worked best for you to make connections with other bloggers?

“My friends live in my computer”

Got that from here @JaneofAustralia Jane’s blog post had a cartoon “I love my computer because my Friends live in it.”

Benefits of having a blog buddy are belonging, working, improving, and being the best you. I get this. I understand how @sitsgirls works by support The Secret to Success is Support

  1. Feedback on posts, prior to pressing publish.
  2. Someone to vent to, who understands your situation.
  3. Work on projects together.
  4. Share link love.
  5. Share each others posts through social media and with other bloggers.
  6. Share communities.
  7. Help each other stay motivated as you share encouragement.
  8. Guest post for each other.
  9. Share each others talents.
  10. Twice the blogging power at your disposal.

Finding my blogging Buddy. (need to find new ones, old ones have fallen by the wayside)

“True friendships cannot be forced. Be honest about who you are and what you offer, and the right buddy will find you”

Mailing Letters

It is a dance.

Dance. Dance alone or dance with a partner.

Touch dancing means leading and following to get the motion and movement synchronized and balanced. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. A Team. It takes time to grow a good friendship and the willingness to let it grow. Go slow.

Enjoy the Climb as Miley Cryus says in her Song. The view is great. I found this saying in the Funny quotes on Facebook

“If you spend too much time holding on to the one who treats you like an option, you’ll miss your chance to find the one who treats you like a priority!”

I am reminded of a friends encouragement to walk away from those who just weren’t there no matter how much I wanted them to be. She knew I would drop everything or travel across the globe to help them while they wouldn’t walk down the block for me. It was time for those paths to end or at least fade and move on. Let go! This brings me to another saying I found on someone’s Facebook page.

“Don’t worry about the people in your past; There’s a reason they didn’t make it to your future”

The first saying about finding those who treat you like a priority, really is powerful.

Believe.

There are people who want be in your corner. Find them. Find them now. This is the notion that has been around for awhile of finding your tribe. Find where you belong. Go there. The 2nd saying is so good for letting go and embracing the future.

Stop hugging the past.

Reach for the Future.

Enjoy today.

Make it great.

Q1. Having read Probloggers book:

ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income

I was following Darren Rowse on Twitter when a post came across about these women bloggers getting ready to do 31 Day Challenge with his book

Get eBook and begin 31 Days to Build a Better Blog

I jumped. Joining with @sitsgirls 500+ women bloggers is the largest exposure I have had to interacting with other bloggers. I had previously commented on a few or  forward a link to others. I was a follower of others & trying to figure it out on my own.

Now I had company.

This has been enlightening.

There are all types of bloggers in the group I find late at night on Twitter is a good time to join in some conversations with the most active talkers. There is help.

Laughs.

Teasing.

Promoting.

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.

Q2 More twitter success. I found a posting about a photographer who has created a niche. We have had a few conversations because I did a Shout out about her on Twitter or somewhere. Hard to remember how some of these relationships started. I will be blogging on her and finding your niche. I asked her to guest post and she went one better and did a video. It is awesome.

2nd Success – while doing my day 11 post, I found while searching the Internet another Blogger who had a very different take on the Third Tribe and the direction they were going. I read her posts. I understood.

I have been there too, before. I reference a link at the bottom of my post to her site so others would have a different view too. She came and commented on my blog. We exchanged a few notes back and forth. I emailed her for more details on a subject. She became a Fan of my Facebook Photography Blog, I sent her a Facebook friend message.

I hope to grow both of those relationships mention in my answer to Question 2

On the 31dbbb group there are a number of women I would like to grow the relationship with. I am taking it slow as the guidance in the book suggests. Making sure we are dancing. Give, Take, Give, Take and off we go smoothly across the floor. Careful to not step on each others toes.

Dance.

2005 PowwowAgain, I am reminded of something about friendships. Sandra Bullock in All About Steve. I loved the story. Maybe I got it and others didn’t. The character is awkward in her relationships in the World. She has a blind date. Obsessive. Crazy. Unbelievably unable to see she is not wanted. She builds it into something else. She finds a group who like her but is still looking elsewhere. Oopss I am rambling. Go watch the movie.

The take away line was from a girl lost in the cave where Sandra rescued children. Finding someone else like you is important. If there is at least one other person in the World like you, you can feel normal. They process thoughts like you. They experience the world in similar ways. I have a BFF like that. Not a blogger.

Our minds process similarly.

It is great to call her.

She NEVER says: “You think too much”. She admires my mind. I just have to say my mind is whirling.

She laughs.

It dissipates.

She laughs at the absurdities in my life. My seriousness fades with her. I like that. She brings fun into my soul.

I am on a quest. New friends. New Blogging Friends.

Finding the friends who live in my computer. There are a lot of people there.

Giving to others is awesome in the Blog World. People help each other. It is great to look for ways to encourage others, to promote them, to genuinely like them. Loving it. Making it a great day. I leave you with my quote

“If you spend too much time holding on to the one who treats you like an option, you’ll miss your chance to find the one who treats you like a priority!”

  3. Eileen, I can’t believe I asked you for your blog link. I’m blamming the medication.
I enjoyed, understood & gained a lot from this post of yours.
31DBBB certainly is an interesting program, for what it does, where it takes us, the walls it chips into and so forth.
Never mind the exhaustion it is creating; it is creating something of great worth.
This is my 1st well day, so I’m going slow, however I will be back this way.

Im thinking I am really Jane of Australia rather than in, althugh I am in. Well, on.

  5. Eileen,
I love the two quotes from facebook about being treated like a priority vs an option. For most of my life, I didn’t know what feeling like a priority felt like. Now I know what it feels like and I’m not settling for anything that feels off to me anymore.

And I agree with the paths split and people should be allowed to move on.

When our lessons together are complete, then it’s time to meet new people and learn from them. This 31DBBB is really churning up some good stuff. It’s fantastic to meet you.

      Cheryl,

I loved having a vehicle to tell a story around those quotes. I have been using the quotes for a couple of weeks now and the story as a vehicle flowed nicely. Thank you so much for stopping by, I am grateful

All of your comments about friendship ring so true in my life. It’s hard when people don’t support you as much as you support them. But, I’ve found there are always good friends around the corner. =)
